If it wasn’t for TikTok, I never would have known that you don’t have to wear a hospital gown when you deliver your baby. I don’t think there is anything wrong with wearing a hospital gown, but I decided to explore my options when I learned that I had them and I ended up finding one I preferred more.
The labor gown I chose from Baby Be Mine Maternity is 100% cotton and feels very nice on. It has snaps all down the back, snaps on both shoulders and a slit in the front for accessibility. I also chose a matching a robe, since I was looking to buy one anyway. That would have been it for me if my my mom hadn’t seen the option for a matching baby swaddle and beanie and insisted on getting it as well.
After sharing my labor gown on TikTok, I received a lot of comments from people advising not to wear the labor gown for the delivery because it will get dirty but I feel that it’s something that I will be able to get cleaned. I could very well be underestimating the extent of the mess to come from giving birth, so I will post and update with what ends ups happening. Some women mentioned that they were not permitted to wear anything other than the standard hospital gown for delivery, and I don’t know what the policies at my hospital are in that regard.
